Jason & Susan Collmorgen
Founders & Directors of Hope of a Nation

Our Short Testimony

Brought up in Christian homes but not truly living their lives for the Lord, everything changed in 2008 when God began wooing Susan to pursue Him. As she began to dive into His Word for the first time and purposely seek Him, He began to move in her and Jason’s lives in a mighty way. Less than a year later, after a powerful supernatural prompting, they went to India and Sri Lanka on their first mission trip. There God revealed to them, to their mission team leader, and to several international pastors that He was calling the Collmorgens to ministry.

Less than seven months later, while Jason was enlisted in the Army National Guard and scheduled for deployment (a testimony for another day), they took a giant leap of faith by selling everything they owned and flew to Mozambique, Africa, to attend a well-known missionary training school. They had no idea what God had in store for them! At the end of the school, they were given the opportunity to serve as Interim Directors of one of that ministry’s large bases in central Mozambique. It was a temporary assignment God used to open their eyes and teach them how to be His hands and feet to a lost and hurting world.

After returning to the U.S., Susan earned a Bachelor of Science in Business-HR Management while working in operations administration and HR support. Jason earned several certifications in the field of information technology and worked as a Senior Web Developer and IT Manager in the Branson, Missouri, tourism industry. Even in their normal non-ministerial jobs, God was at work, helping them acquire the skills they would need for what He had coming.

In 2018, He led them back to Mozambique, watering the seeds He had previously planted in their hearts. The next year they returned once again, just as the nation was being hit by Cyclone Idai. It was during this trip that the Lord communicated to Jason in a dream the vision of a multifaceted ministry that would have a powerful overflowing impact on the people of Mozambique and beyond. Upon their return to the States, they began the necessary steps toward the fulfillment of this calling and vision, establishing Hope of a Nation.

Since then, the Collmorgens' have implemented and oversee a variety of programs in Mozambique that are making a difference in the lives of children and adults through orphan care, medical outreach, children's ministry, higher education assistance, Bible distribution, evangelism, and more recently, a sustainable farm. In a short time, thousands of lives have already been impacted by Hope of a Nation, and all God needed were two ordinary people to just say "Yes, Lord! We will go!"
